By Joey Los How exciting to be involved with such great friends in this very worthwhile Hermann Area Regional Economic Sustainability Project. The food circle at the McKittrick Farmers Mercantile has been for the last many years my principle effort to affect the greater community in getting my friends and neighbors excited and able to purchase locally raised food. Now, by local we mean very local, like within 60 miles. The food circle has been a great success in that it gave everyone an opportunity to meet, sit down, share a meal together, enjoy each other’s company and learn something new. We have had and will continue to have, some amazing presentations on everything from making cheese to wild edibles, to solar heating your chicken coop. The food circle has fostered many great new projects and connections and now this!, an online presence to foster more opportunities. Come to our first big event The H.A.R.E.S. Life Skills Symposium, should be a lot of fun, and a spring board for even more participation in our regularly scheduled monthly food circle suppers. We hope to see you in the new year.
